Have you ever had a job that made you depressed and dreading to go to work?
Between the three of us (Sarah, Michelle, and Aaron) we have been fired from or had to quit at least eighteen jobs due to depression and other mental illness complications. We know what it’s like to be depressed at work because of work. The truth is, lots of people live with mental illness and are trying their best to make a living in the workforce. 1-5 people will experience a mental heath issue in their lifetime. You’re not alone.
We started this site to be a place to share your stories about depression and work. This is a place to read and discover there are people out there just like you. We know it’s hard to work while depressed. We know how difficult it is to go into a job that depresses you. We know the reality of the situation, that sometimes you can’t walk away from the situation because of health care, a paycheck, or a host of other reasons.
So share your stories with us. Share what’s hard. Share your victories. Share your defeats. Share your funny stories (because we all need to laugh). Share your stories with the world and let other people know what it’s like to be depressed for a living.
You can remain anonymous or proudly share your name. Either way is fine with us. This is a safe place to share your stories.
There are two ways you can submit your story. Use the form below to share written stories (and be included in our anthology if you want). If you would rather share a video, you can send it via wetransfer.com to firstname.lastname@example.org Videos need to be no more than 5 minutes long and in .mov or .mp4 format, please.
